The biggest thing to happen this episode was the actual prom. Throughout the episode, Jughead and Betty have been trying to figure out who the Gargoyle King is. For a moment they suspect Edgar but are quickly disproved but not all is lost because they realise that the King will probably show up at prom. Watching Jughead and Betty investigate was actually really fun and gave me old school Riverdale vibes, I’ve definitely missed it a lot but things really did pick up by the time we got to prom.

I don’t know how I feel about the Gargoyle King still being a thing and the Black Hood being back at the same time. I’m hoping the fact that they seem to be working together will mean they’ll both be dealt with soon. FP is now up to date with everything so the police will be looking into it more and Betty is now at the Farm for protection so no doubt things are going to escalate fairly quickly from here. While it seems like Edgar might not be the King, I’m still suspicious. The Farm has to be more involved in G&G or at least a key part to finally finishing the whole thing. It’s too coincidental at this point.

That being said, the investigation and prom parts of the episode were definitely the best and reminded me of early Riverdale. I also appreciated the fact that when Betty went off on her own it switched between scenes of her and scenes of young Alice.

Beyond that there really wasn’t much to note about the episode. We need more about the Farm because it looked like Cheryl was still independent and wanting to do her own thing (be prom queen) so she isn’t completely under their control although she does falter at the possibility of losing Jason. We also now know that Hiram owns Pop’s and the Speakeasy and technically he just gave Archie the gym so surely he owns that too? And we know he’s working with Elio. It’s all clearly going to come to something big but he also has no idea that Veronica knows the truth about Pop’s which means there’s an advantage against him. We’ll have to wait and see where all of that goes though.
