I wasn’t too far into Venom when I realised I was going to love this movie. Is it perfect? No. Is it the best superhero (/anti-hero) movie ever made? Probably not. But do you know what it is? Entertaining as hell and a good start to what I hope is more movies to follow.

Ocean’s Eight (2018) | Movie Review [Spoiler Free]

[Header Image: Warner Bros. Pictures]

I remember when I first heard that Ocean’s Eight was going to be a thing and how happy I was about it, especially when I found out that it was a spinoff. The original Ocean’s trilogy are three of my all time favourite movies and it felt much more satisfying, as a woman, to know that we were getting an all-female spinoff rather than a remake. This way it felt somewhat original while also being an extension to a really fantastic franchise. I mean, let’s be honest, one of the biggest flaws of the original trilogy was that it was very much lacking women and oh boy, does Ocean’s Eight rectify that.

Set It Up (2018) | Movie Review

This post contains spoilers.

You know those movies that you hear everyone talking about non-stop and you know you’ll love it but it takes you forever to get to it? For me, Set It Up is one of those. I’m not too late to the game with this one and luckily enough I avoided any type of spoiler which was great, but at the time of writing this review, the movie has been out for about a month (perhaps a little less).

From the moment I heard what Set It Up was about I knew I would watch it at some point, that it was my type of movie. I feel like people who are into romantic comedies are going to love this movie, but it can also be enjoyed by those who don’t really care and/or aren’t very sure when it comes to romantic comedies.

[Feautred Image: Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures/Marvel Studios]

After seeing this movie I can safely say that is incredibly important that it isn’t spoiled by anyone. There is a lot that could be spoiled so I would be surprised if you find out everything before you get the chance to see it.

A Quiet Place (2018) | Movie Review [Spoiler Free]

[Featured Image: Paramount Pictures]

A Quiet Place is a 2018 sci-fi and horror movie about a family who has to live their life in silence to avoid being hunted by an alien presence that uses sound to track their prey. I have to say right off the bat that this is one of the best horror movies I’ve seen in a long time, and it was such a great experience to watch this in a near-silent cinema.

The Shallows (2016) | Movie Review

[Featured Image: Columbia Pictures]

This post contains spoilers.

The Shallows is a 2016 horror and thriller movie about a surfer called Nancy (Blake Lively) who is stranded 200 yards from shore, and must survive a great white shark attack and get back to safety. It’s directed by Jaume Collect-Serra, produced by Lyn Harris and Matti Leshem, and written by Anthony Jaswinski.

Before we get too into this, I’m going to say this: I enjoyed this movie, but mostly because I could suspend belief long enough to get through it. The movie is only an hour and a half, so it’s not too long to wait, but there’s definitely a lot wrong with it.

Movies with sharks are some of my favourites, so of course when I saw that this movie was going to be a thing I had to check it out! The main reason I love these movies is because I love sharks and I know a lot of what we see is going to be ridiculous and exaggerated (unless of course it’s based on true events, although even then…) but this movie takes it to another level.
