Riverdale Season 3 Episode 18: ‘Jawbreaker’ Review

After a brief hiatus, Riverdale is back with more episodes for season three. This week there are three main things going on: Betty investigating the Farm, Jughead and FP investigating the death of Baby Teeth, and Archie fighting in an upcoming match against one of Elio’s fighters. This episode was actually really well laid out and it felt like we spent a good amount of time with each storyline. Considering the overall structure of the season has felt a little bit all over the place, it was nice that we got some structure during this episode.

Riverdale Season 3 Episode 17: ‘The Master’ Review

Finally we got to properly see Edgar Evernever. At the very end of last week’s episode we saw him stand up and clap the final performance of the musical along with various members of the Farm. This week, we get a little more. With the Farm having an open house, people are welcome to visit to find out more and even take little interviews with existing members to find out how to join up.

Betty goes to the open house with Veronica but doesn’t really find out much at all, however, she is able to convince Cheryl to go in wearing a wire. It’s during her two visits that we really see Edgar. He’s definitely as charismatic as I thought he would be but it’s also crystal clear that he can’t be trusted. When Betty snoops around, taking the confession tapes of Alice and Polly, and finds out one of the Farms biggest pulls, Edgar agrees to sit down with her.

Riverdale Season 3 Episode 16: ‘Big Fun’ Review

I feel like I’m the only person who wasn’t completely blown away by this musical episode but that’s not to say there weren’t good moments because there were. Some fantastic ones even. Like the previous musical episode, they jump into things fairly quickly and they both serve as fun episodes to watch.

I actually don’t know too much about Heathers: the Musical so I can’t really speak to how Riverdale‘s used it but I will say that the music we heard was catchy and fitted in really well with every scene. It never really felt like it was overused or that they were just trying shoehorn in songs where they didn’t need to be. Similarly to the previous musical episode, everyone was great at singing. We had some new voices this time around too but every single person was a genuine pleasure to listen to.

As we saw in the previous episode, Archie is still marked for sacrifice and more people are coming after him. We soon discover that there are several “kill the red paladin” cards out there and the only reason that people haven’t come after him is because it’s a harder quest that needs to be worked up to. It was so great to see Archie, Jughead, and Betty work together to try and figure out the problem. I’ve missed seeing the three of them interacting and it honestly felt like the early episodes of Riverdale.

I love how this episode started with Alice showing off her house to potential buyers. It was so uplighting and happy-go-lucky. She was clearly adamant that it was going to sell so she could go and live her life with the farm permanently. She does everything she can to make her house seem like the perfect place to raise a family but Betty isn’t having any of it.

Riverdale Season 3 Episode 13: ‘Requiem for a Welterweight’ Review

In this weeks episode, we see that Archie is training with Tom Keller and while at the gym one day, he agrees to fight one of Elio’s best fighters. At first, he plans to throw the fight but then decides against it. It’s a risk because changing his mind means that Elio’s fighter might try to kill Archie instead of just knocking him down. The fighting gets more and more intense but luckily Archie manages to keep things going until the bell rings. He doesn’t win the fight but at least he wasn’t killed in the ring either.
